About Exhibition Center Prague Exhibition Grounds
PragueExhibitionGrounds (VýstavištěPraha)– also known as Holešovice Exhibition Center, is an exhibition venue in Prague in Bubenec, near Holešovice . Chairman of the Board of Directors is Pavel Jaroš.
The creation of an exhibition center was planned by dividing the eastern part of the original Park Royal Enclosure area for a jubilee exhibition organized in 1891 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first industrial exhibition in 1791 . The dominant building of the complex is the Art Nouveau Industrial Palace, which includes the National Museum Lapidarium, Maroldovian Panorama of the Battle of Lipan, the Křižík Light Fountain and the Sea World Aquarium. The industrial palace opened on March 15, 1891 and was built according to the design of the architects Bedřich Münzberger and Antonín Wiehl. All exhibition buildings were built in record time. Visitors had the opportunity to get acquainted with the industrial, agricultural, forestry, as well as social and cultural aspects of life in the Czech Republic.
The northern part of the complex is an amusement park. The area is used for exhibitions, concerts or other cultural events. In 2008, the exhibition area was 36 hectares.
In recent history, the exhibition center suffered from three major fires. The ground floor was burned down at the bottom of the exhibition center in 1991 by the Brussels Pavilion. In 2005, the unique Wood Globe Theater was lit in ashes, and in 2008, the entire left wing of the beautiful Art Nouveau Palace of Industry burned down.
Incheba Praha was a long-term tenant until the end of 2014 (the lease agreement was originally supposed to apply until 2016).
Since January 1, 2015, the premises are managed by the joint stock company Výstaviště Praha AS, formerly development projects Prague, 100% owned by the capital Prague, and with the goal of completely revitalizing the exhibition areas.
