About Exhibition Center Messe Dortmund
Messe Dortmund, also known as Messe Westfalenhallen Dortmund, is a prominent exhibition center in Dortmund, Germany.
It was opened in 1925. It was extensively rebuilt and expanded in 1952 after severe damage during World War II. The exhibition center is conveniently located near various transportation hubs, including Dortmund International Airport (13 km), Düsseldorf International Airport (63 km), and Dortmund Central Railway Station (3.9 km), making it well-connected to major cities in Germany and Europe.
The center has nine air-conditioned exhibition halls and 30 meeting rooms of various sizes. It offers a total exhibition area of 60,000 square meters. Approximately 60 events are held at Messe Dortmund each year. The venue’s Congress Center was awarded the Barrier-free Access-Compliant Certificate in 2015, highlighting its accessibility features.
Transportation
Messe Dortmund is accessible by various means of transport. By train, take the U45 or U46 to Westfalenhallen Station, the U42 to Theodor-Fliedner-Heim Station, the RB to Signal Iduna Park Station, or the S4 to Möllerbrücke Station. Visitors arriving by car can reach the venue via several major highways (A1, A2, A42, A44, and A45), and there are 8,800 parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.

VertiFarm – Vertical Farming & New Food Systems
In 2022, VertiFarm will be a dedicated trade show for vertical farming and new food systems. This event brings together knowledge, technology, R&D, and networking opportunities in indoor farming. It focuses on various aspects such as Controlled Environment Agriculture, New Food Systems, crop protection, automation, energy generation, etc. Messe Dortmund is working with the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF) to provide a platform that showcases the rapid development of future business models and facilitates international exchange in the field.
World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2022
Messe Dortmund was the venue for the International Final of the WRO 2022. Located near the city center and adjacent to the Signal Iduna Park, it provided ample space for the event. With its proximity to prominent educational institutions such as the Technical University of Dortmund, the venue was ideal for hosting such a technology-oriented event.
