About Exhibition Center Halle 32
Halle 32 in Gummersbach, Germany, is a multi-functional event center that was created by converting a former industrial hall of the boiler manufacturer L. & C. Steinmüller.
Originally part of the Steinmüller industrial complex, Halle 32 was revitalized as part of an urban redevelopment project. The Regionale 2010 program and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia supported the transformation with 4.1 million euros in funding. The renovation aimed to preserve the historical significance of the site while reusing it as a cultural and community center.
Facilities and Usage
The venue is versatile and can accommodate up to 1,500 people when unseated. It includes a large auditorium, a studio stage, and seminar rooms. Hall 32 is used for various events, including theater, concerts, musicals, readings, comedy shows, private parties, and corporate events. The site also includes the “32 Süd” restaurant, which offers various culinary options.
Hall 32 hosts various cultural activities, including children’s and youth drama, art, musicals, and literature classes. The venue serves as a VIP area for sponsors and business partners of the VfL Gummersbach handball team during home games. It is connected to the adjacent Schwalbe Arena by a bridge.
Hall 32 is a prime example of adaptive reuse in urban development, combining its industrial past with a contemporary role as a vibrant cultural and event center.
