About Exhibition Center KRAFTVERKEHR Event- und Kongresskultur
KRAFTVERKEHR Event- und Kongresskultur in Chemnitz was built in 1960 and served as a roof for the trucks of the VEB Kraftverkehr Karl-Marx-Stadt. The unique roof structure is a listed building. It was also the largest self-supporting hall in the GDR. Entrepreneur Andreas Wöllenstein acquired the building many years ago when it served as a van and truck repair shop.
After relocating the truck workshop and building a new van workshop, the first plans were to convert the hall for congresses and events. In 2017, under the direction of Andreas Wöllenstein, the Kraftverkehr was extensively renovated without losing its special industrial charm. As a cultural and congress center, the newly established Kraftverkehr Chemnitz offers a unique venue for events with creative and classic concepts.
The Kraftverkehr Chemnitz is barrier-free and equipped with separate toilets for disabled people. The floors are level, and all public areas are easily accessible.
