About Exhibition Center China Import and Export Fair Complex
China Import and Export Fair Complex (Canton Fair Complex)is the largest modernized exhibition center in Asia. Located on Pazhou Island, Guangzhou City. This is the largest exhibition complex in China, with a total area of 1,100,000 square meters. The Canton Fair Complex is not only the world’s largest exhibition center, but also a famous building representing the city of Guangzhou, becoming a new tourist attraction.
ChinaForeignTradeCentre(CFTC) is an international exhibition organizing company funded by the Chinese government and affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. The CFTC oversees the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, and the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The company organizes the most famous exhibition in the world, which is known as “China No. 1 Exhibition” – the multi-discipline Canton Fair.
Established in 1957, Canton Fair is a comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, largest scale, most comprehensive range of exhibits, largest customer traffic, largest business turnover and best reputation in China. Over the past 61 years, the exhibition area has increased from 9,600 sq. m from the first session, up to 1,180,000 sq. m at the 122nd session. Exhibits have been expanded from 10,900 to 230,000 types. And the number of buyers has grown from 1,223 from 19 countries and regions to 200,000 from more than 210 countries and regions around the world.
In connection with the expansion of the exhibition, the construction of an exhibition complex was planned in 1998, and the final design was ready in 1999. Construction began on April 6, 2001, with the first phase of the project lasting until December 28, 2002. The second stage took place from December 30, 2005 to the end of 2007. The third phase of construction began on July 31, 2006, and ended on March 21, 2008.
