About Exhibition Center National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai NECC
National Exhibition andConvention Center Shanghai (NECC)is a large exhibition complex built by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the Shanghai Municipality, with a total construction area of 1,470,000 square meters. m. It is one of the largest single-block buildings and exhibition complexes in the world. The complex consists of exhibition halls, NECC Plaza, office buildings and a luxury hotel, offering services related to the organization of exhibitions, congresses, events, office work and accommodation.
The operator of the expo center is National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai ) Co., Ltd. Chairman of the Board – Song Chenghai.
The facade of the NECC building takes inspiration from the soft and auspicious four-leaf clover, with the Commercial Plaza as the central core and the exhibition halls as the leaves. Mixed with many Chinese elements and design, its axis of symmetry concept makes the expo center one of the iconic buildings in Shanghai.
The NECC exhibition complex consists of a 7-story circular building and 8 surrounding 5-story diamond-shaped buildings equipped with amenities for shopping, catering, exhibitions and entertainment.
NECC’s main characteristics:
- 16 exhibition halls, a total area of 400,000 sq. m. m;
- 100,000 sq. m of open areas;
- each hall has a load capacity of 5 tons per square meter. m;
- 60 conference rooms of various sizes and capacities;
- 3 class A office buildings with an area of 180,000 sq. m. m;
- InterContinentalShanghaiNECC is the only high-end hotel in the complex.
