History of Anaheim Convention Center: opening in 1967 and a major leap after the ACC North expansion
Anaheim Convention Center opened in 1967 and quickly became a key driver of business tourism in the city.
The official dedication date is often cited as July 12, 1967.
In 2017, the venue received a major upgrade. After the ACC North expansion, the complex strengthened its position as the largest convention and exhibition facility on the West Coast.
- 1967: the center launches and helps establish Anaheim as a convention destination.
- A series of modernizations and expansions: the venue evolved in waves to meet the needs of large-scale events.
- 2017: a $190 million expansion and the opening of ACC North, adding flexible spaces for new event formats.

Anaheim Convention Center services and amenities: what makes visits easier
At a well-run venue, small details don’t steal your day. Here, those details are thoughtfully handled.
- Catering: Aramark Sports & Entertainment Services is the exclusive food & beverage provider.
- Internet and connectivity: Smart City Networks is the exclusive provider of voice, data, internet, cable TV, and network services.
- Production and AV: Encore is the on-site preferred partner for A/V, rigging, and show production.
- Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the complex. Enhanced solutions can be ordered for shows.
- Outdoor spaces: Grand Plaza, Arena Plaza, and Palm Courts. A strong option for evening receptions and brand activations.
- Accessibility: elevators, ADA parking areas, and partner mobility scooter rentals are available.
Tips for Anaheim Convention Center visitors: practical insider moves
- Check exactly where your entrance is. The complex has a South entrance, an Arena entrance, and separate ACC North access logic.
- Plan your movement. At big shows, distances inside the venue add up. It’s best to set meetings near clear landmarks.
- Use the outdoor zones. Palm Courts and the plazas are great for informal conversations, especially later in the day.
- If you’re an exhibitor, build in time for technical orders. In major convention centers, this often determines how smooth your move-in will be.
- Factor in resort-district traffic. During peak hours, leave your hotel a bit earlier than “just on time.”
Notable events and milestones: why Anaheim Convention Center is chosen again and again
The venue is valued for reliability and the ability to host major brands year after year.
- NAMM Show: one of the best-known annual music industry business events in the U.S.
- VidCon: an event that consistently brings massive crowds and media attention to Anaheim.
- Natural Products Expo: a format where exhibit scale and business traffic matter most.
