About Exhibition Center Lincoln Avenue
Lincoln Avenue is a street in the northern part of Chicago. It runs from Clark Street on the western border of Lincoln Park in a generally north-westerly direction, ending in Morton Grove, Illinois.
Its history
It was originally a Native American trail that ran along a small ridge on the mostly swampy ground of pre-settlement Chicago. Before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the road was known as the Little Fort Road and led to the town of Little Fort, now known as Waukegan, Illinois. In Morton Grove, it was known as Millers Mill Road.
Events
Much of Lincoln Avenue is commercial and is lined with shops, restaurants and other establishments. The annual Taste of Lincoln Avenue festival is held here between Fullerton Avenue and Wrightwood Avenue. Mayfest and the Lincoln Square German-American Festival are also held here.
