About Exhibition Center Kentucky Wool Festival
The Kentucky Wool Festival was born as the winter winds whistled through the hills of Pendleton County. A small group of interested citizens who saw the untapped potential of the area met in January 1983 to create a unique festival. With the guidance of a University of Kentucky Extension Specialist, it was decided to look to the past for a source of “theme”. Thus the Kentucky Wool Festival was conceived and held the first week-end of October 1983.
We here at the Kentucky Wool Festival have a few simple goals that we try to achieve each year. These include but are not limited to
To hold an annual event on the 1st Friday, Saturday and Sunday of October.
To be unique.
Promote sheep, wool products and the local community.
Have heritage demonstrations throughout the festival.
Have activities for all ages. Maintain a family friendly atmosphere.
Provide an opportunity for community and school organisations, craftspeople and individuals to raise money as an alternative to door-to-door selling or fundraising.
Entertain the public by providing an environment where people can meet, have fun, listen to live music and learn about our history.
