History and Heritage

Established on October 2, 1932, as the Polish Democratic Club of Albany, the center has since become a cultural and social hub for the Polish-American community in the region.

The Polish Community Center features one of the largest ballrooms in the capital district, accommodating up to 600 guests for seated events and up to 750 for cocktail receptions.

How to Get to the Polish Community Center

By Car:

• From Downtown Albany:
  1. Drive along Washington Avenue towards Washington Avenue Extension.
  2. Continue on Washington Avenue Extension for approximately 5 miles.
  3. The Polish Community Center will be on the left (landmark: opposite Crossgates Mall).
• From I-90:
  1. Take the exit onto Crossgates Mall Road.
  2. Turn onto Washington Avenue Extension.
  3. Continue for approximately 1 mile, and the center will be on the right.
• From I-87 (Northway):
  1. Take Exit 2W towards Central Avenue.
  2. Turn right onto Washington Avenue Extension.
  3. Continue for about 3 miles, and the center will be on the left.

By Public Transportation:

  • The 905 (BusPlus Red Line) stops at Washington Avenue, about a 15-minute walk from the center.
