Design Philadelphia 2023 is a 10-day festival held every October and is the oldest design festival of its kind in the country, founded in 2005 by Hilary Jay and Jamer Hunt. The festival is presented by the Center for Architecture and Design to highlight Philadelphia as a center of design excellence, support economic opportunity for local designers, and demonstrate to the public the impact of design on our daily lives.

We believe thoughtful design can inspire and empower people in their local communities. That's why we host the festival and host over 130 events every October to show the public the impact and power of design and how it can make our city and our lives better. We curate exhibitions, tours, programs and workshops throughout Philadelphia so that locals and visitors can experience Philadelphia the way we do - one of America's most creative and design-savvy cities.

• Host an Open House : Open your doors to the community through our DesignCrawls! DesignCrawls are held on select days from 4 to 7 pm during the festival, and each one focuses on a different Philadelphia neighborhood. Neighborhoods are added based on business and community partner requirements for participation.
• Create an Event.Each year, we partner with hundreds of designers, design firms and related organizations to produce the DesignPhiladelphia Festival. Throughout the festival, event partners organize and present public workshops, talks, receptions, exhibitions, tours and other creative events.
• Creating a Display DesignDo you have a window, display case or showcase inside your office or business? Help create the DesignPhiladelphia buzz by designing and building a display a week before the festival begins and leaving it until the end of the festival. Give passersby and visitors a reason to #DesignPhilly and highlight your organization as part of our city's thriving design community.
• Curate an exhibition or installation. Showcase your designs, products, services and student work on the DesignPhiladelphia FestivalHub. The exhibition is held annually in a unique location in Philadelphia. It presents the works of local jewelers, architects, furniture makers, fashion designers, manufacturers, designers, artists and others.
• Introduce yourself to the Best in Design Challenge + Showcase. DesignPhiladelphia's "Best in Design" challenge challenges area designers and design firms to present new, innovative, high-quality products that make lives better. Finalists exhibit their work on the DesignPhiladelphia FestivalHub. Winning designers are awarded a $5,000 cash prize, promotional support and mentorship to help increase production and sales of their products.
