About Exhibition Center Messe München
Messe München is a prominent trade show organizer based in Munich, Germany. It operates several facilities, including the New Munich Trade Fair Center, the International Congress Center Munich (ICM), and the MOC Event Center Munich. The combined exhibition space of its 16 halls is 180,000 square meters, with an additional outdoor area of 425,000 square meters. This extensive outdoor area positions Messe München as the largest in Germany.
The company plays a major role in the local and international trade fair industry. It organizes 40 trade fairs for various sectors, including capital goods, consumer goods, and high-tech industries, both in Munich and worldwide. Among these, the most attended event at the Munich Trade Fair Centre is the construction trade fair Bauma, which is also the world’s largest trade fair in geographical terms. This event occurs every three years and attracted around 580,000 visitors in 2016. Other important events organized by Messe München include f.re.e, Heim + Handwerk, Internationale Handwerksmesse, ISPO, analytica, Automatica, BAU, drinktec, Expo Real, IFAT, Intersolar Europe, Laser World of Photonics, Transport Logistic, eCarTec, productronica and electronica.
Messe München is known for its sustainable practices. It moved from the city center to the former airport site in Messestadt Riem, creating one of the world’s most modern and sustainable exhibition complexes. The complex is powered by renewable energy, including one of the world’s largest rooftop photovoltaic systems and a geothermal system from Stadtwerke München, helping to save more than 8,000 tons of CO2 annually. This commitment to sustainability has earned the company certification as an energy-efficient company by TÜV Süd.
The company is a member of several trade associations, including AUMA, FKM, GDG, UFI and CEFA. In 2023 it welcomed 1,942,259 visitors, with 8,974 of the 33,772 exhibitors coming from outside Germany.
The partners of Messe München are the Free State of Bavaria and the City of Munich. Klaus Dittrich has been Chairman of the Board of Management since January 2010. The facilities were designed by renowned architects Bystrup Architecture Design Engineering, Bregenhøj + Partners, Kaup, Scholz, Jesse + Partner.
