About Exhibition Center Business Design Centre
The Business Design Centre is a prestigious international exhibition centre that hosts around 300 events a year. Located just 10 minutes from King’s Cross St Pancras station and close to Angel tube station, it is one of London’s most popular conference and exhibition venues. The Business Centre offers unique showrooms and private office space for entrepreneurs, as well as a diverse calendar of events, large and small, to create memorable experiences.
Our history
Smithfield Cattle Club; it was the perfect location – three acres of vacant land on Upper Street. The large covered area with a huge single span roof was designed specifically for agricultural shows and attracted a record 134,669 visitors per event. In the years that followed, the venue hosted a wide variety of events and was such a success that it was soon given the prefix ‘royal’ due to its patronage. Circuses, balls, military tournaments, foot races and motor shows made the Royal Agricultural Hall one of London’s first event venues. With the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, these activities ceased and the building fell into disrepair after being requisitioned by the Post Office in 1943. In the 1980s, Sam Morris, founder of the Business Design Centre Group, recognised the potential of the Islington site and saved it from demolition. He set about restoring the building to its former glory. The new Business Design Centre was opened in October 1986.Our venues
- Main Hall: Surface area: Approximately 2,000 square metres. This hall can accommodate large exhibitions, conferences and other events.
- Gallery Hall: Area: Approximately 1,500 square metres. Exhibitions, presentations and seminars can be held here.
- International Exhibition Hall: Area: Approximately 1,000 square metres. This hall is for showrooms and product demonstrations.
- Upper Floor Halls: Includes several halls of different sizes suitable for medium to small events.
