About event
“Ireland’s longest and best gourmet extravaganza” – Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival, “50 Things to Do Before You Die”
Welcome to the world’s oldest oyster festival and the most recognizable Irish festival since St. Patrick’s Day. The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival, considered one of Europe’s oldest food extravaganzas, was organized in September 1954 by Brian Collins, manager of the Great Southern Hotel (now called the Hotel Meyrick).
There will be plenty of exciting events for everyone to enjoy throughout the Irish Food Festival; seafood trails, oyster shucking championships including the Oyster Olympics or World Shucking Championships, foodie talks and tastings at Galway’s finest restaurants, festival marquee, Mardi Gras themed gala with family activities, live music, culinary demonstrations and much more.
