About Exhibition Center IFEMA
Located in the bustling area of Campo de las Naciones, near Madrid’s Barajas Airport, IFEMA Madrid is one of the most important trade fair institutions in Europe and the leading one in Spain.
Since its foundation in 1980, IFEMA Madrid has grown into a vast complex with more than 240,000 square meters of exhibition space, comprising 13 exhibition halls, two congress centers and extensive outdoor areas.
It also has around one hundred meeting rooms, an auditorium and 14,000 parking spaces. The venue is known for its accessibility, with eight entrances equipped for disabled visitors, located on the North, South, East and West entrances. In addition, IFEMA Madrid oversees IFEMA Palacio Municipal and IFEMA Valdebebas, increasing its capacity to host a wide range of events. A recent addition to its infrastructure is a new food court area, which aims to enhance the gastronomic experience for its visitors.
History of IFEMA Madrid
The history of IFEMA dates back to its first edition in 1980, which marked Madrid’s entry into the realm of major trade fair cities, a privilege previously reserved for cities such as Valencia and Barcelona. Initially housed in Paseo de la Castellana and Casa de Campo, the growing demand for space led to the opening of the current facilities in Campo de las Naciones in 1991. Over the years, IFEMA has hosted major events such as FITUR, SIMO, MOTORTEC, ARCO and Madrid Fashion Week, as well as important international conferences such as COP25 and the NATO 2022 Summit. The venue’s adaptability was further demonstrated in March 2020, when parts of it were transformed into a 5,000-bed field hospital in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
