Dutch Design Week in 2024 in Eindhoven, Netherlands

Dutch Design Week (also known as DDW) is the largest annual design event in Northern Europe. It presents the work and concepts of more than 2,600 designers to more than 355,000 visitors from home and abroad. The event, which takes place in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, celebrates Dutch design. The event takes place around the last week of October and is a nine-day event featuring exhibitions, studio visits, workshops, seminars and parties at many locations scattered throughout the city.

Thanks to its industrial character and hosting companies such as Philips, Philips Design and DAF, Eindhoven aims to become the national capital of industry and design. In addition, the city is home to the Eindhoven Design Academy and the Eindhoven University of Technology, providing a strong base for innovation. To report these results, a Dutch design week has been organized.

The initiative began twelve years ago as a non-profit fair where design, industry and business could talk to each other on a “neutral” basis. Since then, the event has grown rapidly each year, reaching 355,000 visitors in 2018.

DDW consists of approximately 120 sites. The main venues during the event are, among others, Klokgebouw (Strijp-S), the Design Academy Eindhoven and the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where successful and well-attended exhibitions are organized.

While the primary goal remains to create a non-profit event, numerous conflicts of interest and rapid growth have indeed encouraged a more commercial approach since 2007.
