Society for Phenomenology and Media 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia

The Society for Phenomenology and Media 2024 (SPM) welcomes abstracts (maximum 200 words) for consideration for inclusion in its annual international conference, the Annual Conference Society for Phenomenology and Media 2024. The conference will be sponsored by Tallinn University.

Proposals for 3-person panels are also accepted. They should be organized around specific media, for example: cinema, Internet, mobile communications, medieval manuscripts, printed media (books, newspapers and magazines), theatrical production, television, visual arts, dance, etc. documents, one of them from the panel organizer. Individual abstracts are assigned to the panel by the conference organizer.

The Society for Phenomenology and Media 2024 encourages interdisciplinary approaches and theoretical diversity. Individual papers and panels should not be limited to phenomenological approaches. In the past, articles have come from a variety of theoretical perspectives, including critical theory, cultural studies, hermeneutics, Marxism, new historicism, postcolonial theory, pragmatism, semiotics, speech act theory, and so on. Participants came from a wide range of disciplines: philosophy, media studies, communications, psychology, history, political science, sociology, rhetoric, literary theory, cognitive science, cultural studies and other fields.

Doctoral students are encouraged to submit proposals, but it should be noted that SPM limits the number of submissions from students.

Submitted conference abstracts and panel proposals are reviewed. Accepted and submitted papers are published in SPM's annual conference proceedings and are also considered for publication in Glimpse, an annual peer-review journal published by SPM.
